 | Maurice Page was a lifelong woodworker. He first made cheese boxes and tapered butter boxes which he shipped to Boston. When that business dropped off, he crafted water tubs, buckets for planters, and other novelties for the tourists. He continued working well into his eighties, with his cat Tiger at his side. Fiddler Notecards |
 | "Bill Royer was his name. He was a good fiddler. Always had a fedora on his head and a cigar stuck in his mouth pointing up to the sky. He was happiest fiddling and smiling to a large crowd. After a tune he would always let out a 'YIP!' and that once cost him a contest. He was a friendly fellow and most of all liked to play 'Devil's Dream.'"  | Will and Rowena Austin were neighbors of Peter Miller when he was first becoming interested in photography. At first, they were reluctant to have him take their pictures. Eventually, though, he was able to capture their traditional Yankee lifestyle on film. Almost fifty years later, Miller's images of Will and Rowena Austin are now some of the best known photographs in Vermont.
